Even a summer picnic can have newsworthy elements when it has benefits for the wider community. The story in this case involved members of The Associate Board of NorthShore University HealthSystem who volunteered at NorthShore Evanston Hospital's 39th annual Henrietta Johnson Louis Infant Special Care Unit (ISCU) reunion picnic for families with children who have graduated from the neonatal unit. The Associate Board is a fundraising organization of young professionals that provides its members philanthropic, educational and service programs as well as the chance to network socially and professionally. The summer picnic gave the Associate Board members and volunteers the opportunity to meet some of the ISCU staff and families they support.

Smart Love Family Services, an innovative not-for-profit program founded on play-based learning and well-established Smart Love™principles of child development, dedicated its preschool to honor the late Natalie G. Heineman, a pioneering champion for children's welfare in Chicago and nationally. Thanks to the generous contribution made by Drs. Ewa Schaff-Blass and Josef Blass, the preschool opened as "The Natalie G. Heineman Smart Love Preschool" last fall. The pre-school is an off-shoot of Smart Love Family Services, which provides many programs from counseling, coaching and education classes for parents to training and consultation for agencies, schools and organizations.
Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc., a compensation and human resource management consulting firm, continues to make news with its annual Physician Compensation and Productivity Survey Report, the leading and most comprehensive data of its kind. Since the inception of the survey in 1992, SullivanCotter has tracked physician compensation trends and pay relationships for ten major specialties. The 2011 report contains data from over 400 health care organizations, representing more than 65,000 health care providers. Winger Marketing is the proud winner of two Gold-Level Hermes Creative Awards, an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media.
The first award-winning publicity campaign, “Healthy Living Starts at Home,” was executed on behalf of Dior Builders, a prolific custom home builder, for its exceptional eco-friendly luxury showhome that was the first in the nation to meet the latest air quality standards of the American Lung Association's Healthy House guidelines (www.healthyhouse.org.) Winger created promotional materials, including a pro bono invitation design through a generous donation by Erin Kelly of Eclectik Designs, as well as development of the website www.healthyhousetour.com.
Publicity throughout the launch of the home tour included securing two major media profiles in the Chicago Tribune, a feature in the Daily Herald and EcoHome magazine, plus notable mentions in North Shore magazine, Mindful Metropolis magazine and other publications. The home’s opening night benefit party secured over 200 attendees and raised $20,000 for the not-for-profit Healthy Child, Healthy World.
The other award-winning campaign promoted the not-for-profit Illinois Eye-Bank and its annual fundraiser, the Gift of Sight Gala, named year after year as one of Chicago’s top charitable benefits. In addition to event management, Winger Marketing placed post-press coverage in every local, glossy society magazine, a feat for any event in a crowded philanthropic field. Placements included mentions in Chicago Social, Michigan Avenue magazine, Chicago Skyline, and Today’s Chicago Woman post-event.
Judged by the prestigious Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (www.amcpros.com), the Gold Award is presented to entries judged to exceed the highest industry standards. To learn more about Winger Marketing and our award-winning capabilities, please call us at (312) 494-0422.
